We hiked, stargazed and camped in Warrumbungle National Park - Australia's first Dark Sky Park and one of the best (and most underrated) hikes in NSW.
We'd never even heard of Warrumbungle National Park until a few weeks before we visited. Now it's one of our favourite parks in the country. Tucked away in rural NSW near Coonabarabran, it's Australia's first International Dark Sky Park, sitting right next to Siding Spring Observatory. We went on a night hike to shoot our first ever astrophotography under some of the clearest skies in the country, then spent the next day tackling the park's iconic trail - the Tors, the Breadknife, Grand High Tops and up to the summit of Bluff Mountain for 360 degree views over the entire park. Capping it off with an epic campfire and relaxing evening back at Camp Blackman.

💡 Tips:
→ Check the moon phase before planning your astro night - we were lucky that we could get some darkness before the moonrise. The New moon gives you the darkest skies
→ The Tors, Breadknife, Grand High Tops and Bluff Mountain loop is a full day out at 20kms with lots of uphill. Start early and if in summer - take lots of water.
→ Exposed ridgelines mean weather can turn fast - if hiking in winter, check conditions and take something warm - it got cold for us!
