EARLY RELEASE: We road tripped New Zealand for Free in a Relocation Van | Queenstown to Au

We road tripped New Zealand, from Queenstown to Auckland, via two relocation vehicles for almost nothing - freedom camping, skiing Mt Hutt and crossing the Cook Strait on the Interislander.

Hiring a van in New Zealand these days is quite expensive. So we found you could bid on a Transfercar (a relocation service where you move a hire company's vehicle back to another depot). We put in our requests was rejected 3 times and finally ended up with a Mitsubishi ASX from Queenstown to Christchurch and then a 2018 LDV campervan from Christchurch to Auckland. This mission - get to Auckland in 5 days and try ski on both the South Island and the North Island of New Zealand. This is how it went, what it cost and what we'd do differently.
