The Dark Side of Adventure

The Dark Side of Adventure

Oct 24, 2023

You know what's often left out of the traveler's tales? The preparation phase.

I'm not talking about the kind of trip where you book a hotel in Rome and grab a plane ticket.

I mean those countless hours in front of the screen, digging through and sifting information on the cool spots along your route, unique things to do, when and how to visit them, food and fuel costs, overnight stay options, essential documents, ferry and train tickets, and so much more.

There are plenty of little details that should be considered to ensure your 20-day adventure is full of pleasant surprises and not unwelcome ones.

Long trip planning is genuinely exciting the first few times around, but after about five rounds it can get quite burdensome. I mean, I spent six months planning a 20-day trip to Italy once!

By the time you hit the tenth attempt, you start to realize the true worth of tour operators.

And I'm on a mission to make this part of the adventure less stressful.
