Why Do The 1001 Book Challenge?

Why Do The 1001 Book Challenge?

Nov 22, 2022

A little while ago, I started working on audiobooks. As a trained actor most of my work has been on the stage and I have experimented little with voice work. But, in times of struggle, as my chosen industry has gone through of late, It was made clear to me that people now consumed their entertainment via internet streaming and theatrical performance became less attended because of chance of sickness.

While I was undergoing this change of perspective, I sat down to take on the challenge of working through a listopia: the 1001 Books You Should Read before you die. And here I am combining them. For practice, fun, or who knows what, I have decided to perform as many of the 1001 books as I can and post them for posterity. If you find this project relevant to your interests help me out by buying me a coffee or sending me a $1 donation via paypal.

The first book I am working through is not really a book or a traditional novel, but the collection of Aesop’s Fables. These fables pop up over and over in Western literature and show the power of anecdote in delivering a message. You can see this clearly in an analyses of the first fable.

The Wolf Turned Shepherd is an apt fable for our pandemic world. Many poor leaders showed themselves over that time. Who told us in bright words how helpful they would be but did not show up in crisis. We are surrounded by Wolf Turned Shepherds. People pretending to be one thing for their own gain. Look out for these wolves!
