Meghan’s Magic

Meghan’s Magic

Sep 22, 2026

imageThe Duchess of Sussex has many talents and a list of achievements as long as your arm. I won’t list them all here because, frankly, it will only make me feel inadequate (what have I been doing with my life?) I mean, not many women become a UN Ambassador before they’re forty. (And no, nothing to do with titles - this was before she had even met Prince Harry).

Luckily, there are enough charming and downright relatable things we know about her, that the non-Deranged can see her for the human she is. The love of puns, the slight geekiness, how much in love she is with her handsome prince. When you’re as beautiful and accomplished as Meghan is, it can create a bit of a barrier with us normies - but Meghan’s warmth and joy and obvious sense of fun collapses the distance. We can see her as one of us, rather than a goddess to be placed on a pedestal.

One of the things we were delighted to discover from her show With Love, Meghan is that she’s a woman who loves Magic FM.  I assume that tuning her radio to Magic was one of her first acts when she returned to the UK for an extended stay. Remember Tan France teasing her about her love of the station, telling her it was what Grandmas listen to? “I’ll be that Grandma!” she declared, making Grandmas cool again the world over.

Well, when Gaby Roslin interviewed Prince Harry at the WellChild Awards, she casually suggested Meghan might do a show for the station. Um … yes please.

Meghan’s public voice is warm. She speaks the way people wish their families spoke to them - with kindness, humour, and the ability to make even ordinary moments feel meaningful. A Meghan Christmas special would be human. It would be fun. It would be the kind of festive comfort people actually want.

It would also be, quietly, a moment of reclamation. For years, Meghan has been treated as if her voice is dangerous. Too confident, too articulate, too female, too Black, too American … too everything. A Christmas radio show would let her speak directly to the public, without the noise of tabloids or palace briefings. It would let us hear her be herself again.

For those who “just don’t like Meghan” - well, they don’t have to tune in. They can wrap themselves in the “dignity” of the king’s Christmas message. But the rest of us are ready. We want the softness. We want the humour and the grandma energy.

We just want to hear Meghan again.
