Happy Thanksgiving! I can’t say I care that much about the Turkey. We also have to acknowledge this is a Native American day of mourning. Celebrating “pilgrims and Indians” is a fairytale understanding of the harm to Indigenous peoples over the centuries.
But setting aside a day to give thanks is important. Gratitude is a spiritual practice that can move us forward. I don’t like comparison gratitude (thank goodness I’m not as bad/poor/etc as them), but I am talking about a gratitude that humbles us and reminds us that we are not alone in this world.
So enjoy the day. Be aware of food waste the best you can. Here are just a few things on the list of what I am grateful for:
