I have a desire now, here, as I enter my 50th year, to take on a new aspect of my musical craft and attempt to make a record all my own. I have a batch of songs and I will be working to make them real and get them ready for release to the world in some form. I believe this art-making is a worthwhile effort and I want to give it some due. At the moment, my goal is to continue shaping this material and polishing the recordings in my basement space — which costs nothing beyond computer maintenance and occasionally a new instrument or piece of gear. However, I have a few musicians I would like to hire to flesh out some moments in a few songs more fully. For instance, I've written an arrangement for a string quartet for the end of one song — another first for me. And, I'd like to replace some programmed drums with real drums. Plus, there are a variety of other small adjustments along those lines. I would then like to hire a mix engineer to give the recordings a professional mix and a mastering engineer to give the entire project the final polish before release. These sorts of specialized skills require funding.
And so, here is the ask: If you would like to help me celebrate my milestone of this big year on the planet and you believe that what I am attempting to make may be interesting and/or worthwhile, I would love your support in this effort. Every donation helps and will be put towards my artistic and creative pursuits.
