My name is Jonathan J. Damgaard Nygaard Andersen, 27 years old, I am from Denmark and I’m a volunteer in Ukraine for Ukraine is this tragic war.

I came to Poland first time on the 1st of march driving refugees from Poland to Denmark, and I took this trip 4 times in 14 days. After these trips, I joined a refugee camp in Przemysl, Poland, called The Tesco center, where I was the international coordinator of transportation of Ukrainian refugees to Denmark. Sending many hundreds of Ukrainian people to Denmark by busses, we did 3 busses a week in the beginning, after that 2 busses a week. I’ve been in Poland full time since April and moved to Lviv, Ukraine, on the 6th of June to continue my work with helping and assisting refugees of Ukraine as much as possible. I have been building up and managing an Information center, helping and assisting around 2.500 refugees from Ukraine both inside and outside of Ukraine on a monthly basis. I have been helping and are still helping coordinate the transportation of aid to where it was needed in Ukraine from all of Europe, mostly Denmark, I send this stuff mostly to the east or to everything from local shelters here in this region or to child hospitals, orphanages, rehabilitation centers, etc. I am kind of the only danish volunteer left, and most of the people in Denmark know that and have my number, so I’m getting a weekly aid drops from Denmark to my warehouse. This warehouse has 24/7 hour access and the warehouse is behind a fence with security guards looking after everything. I am so happy about this warehouse, it helps me help other NGO's and Ukraine. 

I’ve been helping the danish soldiers, foreign soldiers, and Ukrainian soldiers with equipment, such as medicine, cars, aid, first aid kits and etc. I am trying to do what I can for the danish soldiers, we have a good friendship, and I have no military experience, but God has given me the gift of a good mouth and some good listening ears. I am really good at talking, and talking about everything and my ears are good at listening, so the deal with the soldiers here is that they can call whenever it’s needed and we have a talk about whatever, to try to help them in their situation. On the way in or out of the country or if they need a break, they come by my flat and rest here for some days before leaving again.  

I have learned throughout this period of time, that the people of Ukraine are way more stronger and braver than you can imagine, I have only experienced a tiny bit of all the tragic things happening here in Ukraine, such as the air raid alarm going on and on and in the last 2 weeks getting rockets which hit close to where I live. I have lost new friends and refugees I’ve met in the refugee camp in Poland, who came back to Ukraine and then sadly got hit by a rocket. I have been talking to thousands of people who lost everything and are completely left with nothing, I’m here as a neighbour, not far away from this beautiful country, to try to do and keep doing my part in helping and assisting this country to win over brutal Russia.

So I'm here in Lviv, Ukraine to manage the logistics of humanitarian aid coming in to my warehouse and sent it to the east with my network of drivers. I also pick up aid in Poland and drive it to Ukraine. 

I’m asking for money to help me pay my bills in Denmark, and to help me pay my bills here, so I can keep being here, and keep up my work with helping Ukraine and the people.
