Silent Struggles of a Referral Marketer (Continued)!
A common struggle we can't seem to escape is when new apps/promos hit Referral World but fail to deliver on their promised offers. Brink’s Prepaid Mastercard appears to be the latest. They rolled out what looked like an easy win: sign up, verify your identity, load $40 onto your card, and receive a $20 signup bonus, plus $20 for each referral. However, the promotion appears to be plagued by issues. I signed up on August 25th, completed the $40 load, and as of today (9/8), I have not received either the sign-up bonus or a single referral bonus. After 45 minutes on the phone with Brink’s support, including escalation to a supervisor, the outcome was a new ticket and a promise that I will receive a response within up to five business days. Even worse, the first rep told me they did not even see this promo in their system, only a referral bonus for the referrer, not the sign-up side that Brink’s still shows publicly on their website.
This raises significant questions: Are we seeing another instance of technical issues creating hurdles for members signing up and referring others through this promotion? Or is this just the latest app reneging on the bonuses it advertises? I actually contacted Brink’s once already on August 29th and was told to wait five business days, but I never heard back. Since signing up and referring, I have also received 14 secure inbox emails stating that the people I referred did not qualify. That seems odd because it looks like they were not even given time to trigger the bonus. It is possible that all 14 of these people had Brink’s accounts in the past, but that feels unlikely.

If you recently signed up through Brink’s Prepaid Mastercard, did you receive your $20 sign-up bonus? Have you received any bonuses? Or are you, like me, still waiting in limbo? Komi Referral Terms Changed. What You Need to Know!

On Aug 28, Komi was one of the most attractive new apps in Referral World, offering a flat $50 instant bonus for every friend who signed up through your link and activated their subscription. It was simple, clean, and viral. However, as of 9/1, Komi quietly changed the rules, and it’s a significant shift.
What Komi promised on 8/28:
$50 flat payout when your referral subscribes (on day 8, after the 7-day trial).
No payout delays, just straight to your account.
What Komi changed on 9/1:
Now it’s a 25% revenue share of your referral’s subscription, capped at $50.
No payout occurs until after their first free month, meaning you’ll wait approximately 37 days before receiving a referral bonus.
Rewards only count on valid subscription payments (refunds and cancellations don’t qualify).
You must link your PayPal account in the Rewards section, with payouts delayed for validation and fraud checks.
What used to be instant $50 bonuses are now spread out slowly until you hit the cap.
Why this matters:
This is a textbook example of what we often see in Referral World with these new apps: they go viral and then change the fine print once people flood in. If you signed up and shared links before 9/1, keep your screenshots and saved terms (like I did) in case they try to renege on payouts. I’ve already submitted a ticket with Komi to confirm whether they’ll honor the original $50 offer for everyone who referred before the switch.

My take:
It’s still possible to earn with Komi, but don’t expect to earn $50s quickly anymore. Treat it as a “wait and see” program, and be cautious with your time and referrals until Komi proves they will consistently honor rewards.

Swagbucks was one of the very first apps - if not the first - that I started referring. In 2018, they launched "Swagbucks Live", a free daily live trivia game hosted by real people. During COVID quarantine, host Hal Lublin and others helped keep us sane and entertained. As I got more active with Referral World News and sharing new apps and promos, I stopped playing Swagbucks Live (there just weren't enough hours in the day)!
