Java Momma to Pay Owed Bonuses, Requires ID Verification!
Over the weekend, a new app called Java Momma hit Referral World, which offered $5 referrals. Like recent fly-by-night apps like Joist and Invoice Simple, Java Momma quickly shut the whole thing down once their referral program went viral. They went a step further, wiping referrers' signups from their tracking and/or marking them as invalid.
Yesterday, Java Momma rebooted their referral program and informed members that the company is working to verify all accounts and plans to issue owed bonuses on August 2nd. But there's a catch. Each referrer must email their valid ID to their email, [email protected] to confirm their identity.
I personally don't feel comfortable sending my ID through email to a company that's already pulled these shenanigans. If you're owed bonuses and want to claim them, you may want to consider doing this, though I recommend contacting the company before just sending your ID.
Promises, Promises!
Speaking of fly-by-nighters and the "will they or won't they" pay owed bonuses, similar emails have been sent to members who referred Joist and Invoice Simple over the past few days. Time will tell whether these companies actually make good on their contracts with referrers who referred their apps in good faith. I will provide updates once I know more.

I Signed up for Freecash!
One of my goals this year has been to try and sign up for a new app once a week because I can get so focused on reporting on and referring certain fantastic apps and bonuses that I miss out on discovering and sharing other opportunities. I signed up for a couple of apps/bonuses last week (Joist and Invoice Simple.... check my "Duds" article below for more info on those). And today, I signed up for Freecash, an app I have heard many speak highly of for some time but never signed up for. This RWN article is actually getting published a little later than usual because I've been exploring Freecash and have already earned $36.42!
Freecash is a GPT site similar to Swagbucks, MyPoints, Scrambly, InboxDollars, Benjamin, and others where you "get paid to" download apps, complete offers, surveys, etc.

The Duds (Whomp Whomp)!
For every "OMG, JUMP ON THIS!" app that hits Referral World, there is usually a handful of duds that also briefly gain popularity before disappearing just as quickly. I've written articles on these fly-by-nighters in previous RWN issues. The past week was no exception. Last week's duds included:
Joist
This app had the quickest rise and fall of any viral app I've seen in recent history. Joist offered no signup bonus and required a $7 monthly subscription to obtain a referral link but offered instant $30 bonuses (issued as Visa gift cards). In the few short hours the promotion ran before being shut down, I earned and cashed out $150 in bonuses. I was lucky because most who earned referrals didn't cash out their bonuses and/or experienced issues (such as receiving a gift card with a $0 balance). And once Joist shut it down, people who received bonuses but didn't cash out the Visa gift cards could no longer.
Over the past few days, Joist has told some affected that it's working to resolve the issues and hopes to honor owed payments within the next 5 business days. I do hope they stick true to their word on this!
If you signed up and paid the $7 fee, you'll want to be sure you cancel the membership if you don't plan to stay a member. Note that the day Joist went viral, there didn't seem to be a way to unsubscribe online. I don't know if there is any now; if not, you may need to reach out to Joist, which you can do by emailing them at [email protected].
Invoice Simple
Shortly after Joist came and left Referral World, a similar setup went viral called Invoice Simple. Like Joist, Invoice Simple didn't offer a signup bonus but offered $20 referral bonuses that were said to take around 24 hours to receive and issued in the form of a gift card. Invoice Simple also required a plan subscription, the cheapest option being $2.49/month. Like Joist, Invoice Simple turned out to be a fly-by-nighter, but they took a more militant approach, telling members their system was breached and asking referrers to provide various forms of verification - including a business license - to qualify for the bonuses. I pressed on this issue, submitting PDFs and screenshots of their terms where none of what they were asking for was required or even mentioned. As of yet, I haven't received a single bonus from Invoice Simple, and I don't believe they'll end up honoring any bonuses.
If you paid a $2.49 (or higher) membership fee, you can cancel your membership by logging into your Invoice Simple account, clicking "Settings" at the top of the page, locating the "Subscription" section (towards the bottom of the page) and clicking "Cancel Subscription."
Dressin
Dressin is one I didn't sign up for, though I know several people who did. I'm not clear on what is happening with them right now. I've seen posts and chat messages from referrers stating that Dressin has been delaying or withholding owed bonuses and even shutting down the accounts with accusations of fraudulent activity. I've also seen posts accusing Dressin of being a scam. And yet, other referrers continue to promote Dressin, and some even offer pay to sign up through them. Whatever is going on, I recommend researching if you consider signing up. Perhaps avoid Dressin altogether.
While these "opportunities" were ultimately FLOPportunities, here are SEVEN fantastic moneymakers that are dependable, reputable, and lucrative!
