It Didn't Take a Degree to Foresee the Harvard FCU Disaster!
Earlier this week, I saw a possible promotion start to gain traction in Referral World from Harvard Federal Credit Union. The promotion reminded me of DCU when DCU first started out, offering a $100 signup bonus and requiring personal email invites in order to refer. I had a feeling this particular one wasn't going to end well, but didn't give it too much thought since there are so many other app promotions going on right now. Fast forward to this morning when I saw a few Facebook posts promoting Harvard CU and one particular referrer was getting a lot of interest thanks to their vaguebook posting style of providing next to no information and responding to all info requests with, "I'll message you."
Nevertheless, I decided to dig deeper. As I had predicted, Harvard CU had already shut down the whole thing, leaving members with the message, "Due to unexpected demand, we are not accepting referrals at this time."

Flash Doubles Referral Cap from 100 to 200 Max!

Sling Money - $10 Signup, Contest in Lieu of Referral Bonuses!
A CashApp-like app called Sling started showing up in Referral World this week. The app offers a $10 signup bonus which is instant for most but has taken up to 7 hours for some folks to receive. This app differs from most as each member has a link/code they can share, but referrers aren't being offered referral bonuses.
I did some research today and found that while there are no referral bonuses offered, Sling is running a referral contest. Sling Money didn't mention an amount in their social media post, but stated that the top five people with the most contacts by 2/28 will win cash (regardless of whether they use your link/code). 
Aside from Sling Money being able to track who's referring people through the codes, the referral codes seem pointless since signing up gets you $10 without using a code, and the contest isn't related to the code either. Hopefully Sling Money will change its policy and make sense out of the "referral code but not really a referral code" nonsense.

Shopback Lowered Bonuses When We Weren't Looking!

Hat tip to RWN reader Carl R. who reached out asking me why he received a $10 bonus instead of $25. I investigated, and for some unknown reason, Shopback ended their "Give $25, Get $35" promotion early and replaced it with a "Give $10, Get $30" promo. The $25 signup promo is supposed to run through 2/24, which I confirmed when I reached out to support just after the promo started on 2/15.
Here's the promo the site is advertising now, and the terms have the same 2/24 end date (only with the lower bonuses):
I emailed the company again tonight and will provide an update once I hear back. Fingers crossed, they restore the "Give $25, Get $35" promotion and adjust the bonuses for folks who have signed up after the promo switch.
Note that the new promo is still a great one, but admittedly, not as good as the one that's still supposed to be currently running.

Have you heard of Solo (formerly WorkSolo)? Solo is an all-in-one app for delivery drivers and gig workers (i.e., Doordash, Grubhub, Instacart, Lyft, Uber, etc.). Last week, I reported on how there were conflicting reports of what Flash's signup bonus was as referrers were promoting it as anywhere between $3 to $10. The promo materials clearly showed the increased $10 referral bonuses (targeted; some users still have $5 promotion). But it didn't make clear what the signup bonus actually was.
I reached out to Flash last week and though it took several days for a reply, Flash clarified the signup bonus has changed and is now 2,100 points ($7+ value) which breaks down to:
100 points for joining bonus.
1,500 points ($5) for email connect
500 bonus points if you are coming via referral

MoneyLion's Bonuses are Now Posting Daily!
If you've ever seen a post or previous RWN issue, you already know how much I love MoneyLion. Just this week, I've earned ANOTHER $265 in the past three days. What's different this week is that referral bonuses have posted every night (Sun, Mon, Tue). Historically, referral bonuses have posted to accounts within 1-3 business days, so hopefully this daily event becomes the new normal!

Apps Left Behind!
In Referral World, the more options one has for signup and referral bonuses, the better. For referrers, though, it can be difficult to give all of these apps and opportunities the attention they deserve. For instance, I've been referring a few apps like BigCash, MoneyLion, Shopback, and a few others pretty heavily, but there are many other apps with great bonuses, too! Here are just a few that also have great bonuses but aren't promoted as frequently these days:
Current has been offering $50 signup bonus and referral bonuses for a few years, now. But it hasn't been getting as much attention as other banking apps, such as MoneyLion, Chase, and newer apps. That said, I earned another $50 referral bonus from Current last week, so there are still people in Referral World who don't already have it.
Varo's "Spend $20, get $25" is a larger bonus than a lot of other bank bonuses out there in Referral World right now. And the best part is there are ways to keep your $20 depending on how you choose to spend it.
Swagbucks is one of the OG GPT and cashback sites. In fact, it was the first app I ever started referring, and it was my biggest earner until I signed up and focused more on referring other apps like MoneyLion. These days, there are several similar GPT apps and sites, including Benjamin, Drumo, FreeCash, InboxDollars, MyFreeApp, Scrambly, and Split Drop.
There are so many apps with bonuses worth signing up for and promoting! If you have apps you used to refer others to but don't these days, it might be worth adding one or two more to your post rotation. Or, maybe create a larger list like I've done with my monthly referrals and similar lists.
