Hiroshima City Highlights 4 Hour Tour

Hiroshima is a fascinating place - even after 27 years here I find the architecture, history, and stories of the people past and present fascinating and I am sure you will too.

This is a half-day tour of Hiroshima city that takes in the key sights and important themes of peace, history, resilience, culture, traditions, heritage, locally-made products and natural beauty. We can finish this tour in 4 hours depending on our walking pace, level of interest and stops. I am happy to stay with the group for up to 6 hours if you prefer a leisurely paced tour with stops along the way to rest, eat and drink.

The fee for this tour covers the guiding and translation during the tour as well as my own transportation, entry and food or drink costs. Guests should plan to cover their own travel, entry fees and transportation costs- please plan to have 1, 000 yen per person (in cash) to cover the basic tour expenses for donations, entry and travel. Please plan for additional 2, 000 per person to cover any food. .

ITINERARY
+ Meet at your hotel (or Hiroshima station)
+ Visit 2 of the sacred mountains shrines and temples (1 hour)
+ Visit the stunning Zen gardens Shukkei-en (1 hour) + enjoy Japanese sweets and tea (+ 30 minutes)
+ Walk through the Hiroshima castle & Shrine grounds (1 hour)
+ Walk to Hiroshima peace park via the central shopping areas to give an overview of the city (30 minutes) + enjoy a coffee or light meal (+ 1 hour) / option: take a taxi, tram or sightseeing bus
+ Walk through Hiroshima's heart "Peace Park": A-bomb dome + meaningful monuments along the peace line (1 hour) - the tour ends at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum where I recommend going through on your own using an audio guide- it is a powerful and personal experience.

+ Please be aware that the order, length of each visit and destinations will depend on the weather as some of the locations will close in the case of heavy rain or lightening storms and your safety and enjoyment are my utmost priority.

MEETING POINT + TOUR DURATION
Meeting Point Options: Rail or Bus Station, Cruise Ship Port, Hotel, Monument/Building

Duration: 4 hours

If the weather is poor, we may have to cancel going to the gardens (if there is lightning) or if it is slippery conditions. Most tours last 4 hours, but I am happy to stay with the group who prefers a slower pace for up to 6 hours.

TRANSPORTATION
If you enjoy walking and the weather is fine, we can do this tour entirely on foot which is enjoyable and you can get a good feel for the city this way.

Rental bicycles are another option (1500/DAY)

Hiroshima has great transportation options, so if the conditions are not optimal, we can use a bus, tram or taxi to reduce our walking time.

The cost of transportation is minimal between 100~300 yen per person per ride. If you have a JR Rail pass, you will be able to use the sightseeing bus for free
