Australia’s Royal Commission into Antisemitism just allowed a witness to question Israel’s right to exist.
Rita Jabri Markwell told the Commission:
“I don’t think any state that relies on unlawful occupation and apartheid and genocide could be said to be a legitimate state.”
She also framed Zionism — defined by the Anti‑Defamation League as Jewish self‑determination — as a violent nationalist ideology. Even when shown a student who was kicked out of her accommodation for being a Zionist, she still argued Zionism conflicted with human dignity.
A UN “genocide” claim was treated as fact. Israel’s rejection of the allegation was brushed aside.
This is how truth collapses:
Institutions start treating lies as “valid perspectives.”
Antisemitism gets reframed as political commentary.
And the Jewish right to self‑determination is portrayed as extremism.
Isaiah 59:14 warns us: “Truth has stumbled in the streets.”
We’re watching it stumble inside a Royal Commission.
If institutions can’t recognise antisemitism, they can’t protect anyone.
