After graduating high school, I purchased my first SLR film camera from my uncle. I enjoy working with people, so I took an interest in portraiture and started capturing wedding and family photographs, while concurrently becoming passionate about lighthouses, landscape, astro, and wildlife photography.

In 2003, I transitioned from film to digital photography while continuing my passion for lighthouse photography (over 300 nationwide) while raising two children with my husband, Matt. It was during the autumn of 2004 when I photographed my first auroral arc in October of that year. Just a few weeks later that November, there was a multi-day G5 storm event and my second time photographing the aurora that has led me to multiple pursuits over the previous two decades in search of the elusive "rainbows of the night".

In recent years, I have developed a passion for birding and bird photography and have seen and/or captured over 350 species in ten states. My love of lighthouses and landscape photography has also taken on a new perspective with a drone camera as a licensed FAA UAV drone pilot.

Of notable commendation, my award-winning photography has been featured in large publications such as Pure Michigan, Michigan State Parks, Michigan Audubon, The Nature Conservancy, Mlive.com, Michigan Nature Association, Lake Superior Circle Tour Magazine, and Lighthouse Digest. Other imagery of mine has been used by commissioned artists and authors, featured in blogs, and several articles by my local county newspaper, The Times Indicator.

My photography has also been featured and shared by countless national and international social media accounts and also featured on several West Michigan local news outlets.

I've discovered that I have a passion for hunting things. Whether it's photographic subjects, tweaking my editing skills, or the never-ending search for genealogy, I have branched out and diversified myself to keep my subjects fresh and new every time I pick up a camera. I have always felt a calling to help others, and thoroughly enjoy assisting someone choose a new camera, learn camera basics, discuss the aurora, or expand their genealogical resources in search of ancestry. My kids ask why I am always texting people they have never heard of - I just grin and respond, "because I enjoy what I do."
