This past spring, I competed in the Victoria Open Karate Championship... my first tournament in many years (and my first one outside of my original Shotokan background). I was proud to earn silver in kata, even with a few hiccups during my second round. I had only just learned that kata before competing, so being able to hold my own and stay composed was a huge personal win.
More than anything, it was about showing up, testing my growth, and getting my footing again. This experience has reignited my drive - and it’s all part of the bigger journey toward representing Canada at the World Shukokai Championship in Estonia, 2027.
