A New Castle, Built in the 12th Century, Is What Gives Newcastle-Under-Lyme Its Name

Many people don't realise that Newcastle is named quite literally after a new castle. There isn't much of it left standing, but the town of Newcastle-under-Lyme owes it's life to the 12th-century castle that created it.
