Welcome!
Hi, I'm Jeeyoon Kim. I'm a classical pianist, educator, author, podcaster, and YouTuber based in the US, originally from South Korea. I’m passionate about making classical music relevant to 21st-century audiences by becoming a bridge between music and the listener.
In my bi-weekly newsletter, Behind the Keys, I share insights from behind the scenes of a classical pianist’s life, including my favorite music, wisdom from books I’m reading, and other inspiring discoveries. My mission is to inspire and motivate millions of people around the world with the power of classical music!

Greetings, Jeeyoon ( Dr. J.)!
When I lived in Egypt, when someone returned from a trip, one would say:
Hamdellah ‘ala el Salama — (‘Thank God for your safety’ or ‘Thank God for your safe return’)

Thank you for sharing your trip. Your Mom looks great, with or without eyeliner tattoo!
Blessings! Stuart

It's good to eat/exercise/live balanced life.
Sometimes, the focus can be too much on the outside, as you saw on your trip to your Korean home.
"...The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1Samuel 16b

I have wondered, listening to you play, where all that emotion could be coming from. Reading your message and the poem its clear to see the emotion resides within you.
For most of us, playing a musical instrument is an effort in concentration that just doesn’t leave too much room for emotional expression….lest we lose our place or heaven forbid make an error.
Like the passport picture — apparently emotion is frowned upon in too many things. God bless Allen.
