"My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king." - Psalm 45:1
Beautiful Savior,
born as a baby,
it must
hurt you when you see a child give up.
It must
hurt you when you hear a child say,
“I can’t.”
That might be present reality
but it must not be a self-fulling prophecy.
You understand
firsthand that life on earth
is about learning and growing.
We know little
about your formative years.
But you held your own
with scholars in the temple
and grew in wisdom and stature.
“I can’t” is
not part of a divine vocabulary.
Give our
children determination
to keep trying and learning,
studying and praying to overcome failing.
Give them
confidence to say:
“Just
because I can’t do it today,
doesn’t
mean it will always be that way.”
Amen.
