Lord, this is our restless prayer.
What should we do with longings
that won’t go away?
What should we do with yearnings
to be something,
or see something,
or make something happen
in a brand-new way?
Are You tugging at our hearts
through our unfulfilled dreams?
We know that every gift
comes from You,
including who we are
and what we do.
Give us a feeling
that just won’t leave us
of the direction
You want to lead us.
Give us encouragement
from those around us
that we are up to the challenges
You are placing before us.
Please answer our restless prayer
by resolving
the tension within us
between contentment
and our need
for fulfillment.
Amen.
