I had forgotten all about my Substack.
Luckily, I rediscovered it today. As an introduction to my science fiction prose and poetry, here is the first poem I wrote that was inspired by the Industrial music of Australian band Noveaux (facebook.com/noveauxoff…). It was their single “Clinical Comfort” that inspired my first poem - I wrote this on my phone in my car, right after seeing them perform live (see image below) in Melbourne, Australia for the first time in September 2023.

So, for your entertainment, here is my first ever science fiction/ Industrial/ cyberpunk poem:
Nanites burning through my brain
No clinical comfort
I'm going fucking insane
At the speed of light
Just a noveau delight
As I spin further into the silicon pit
never drained of recycled shit
And, I'm forever drowning
in Zeroes and Ones
While this might look like fucking fun
the truth is
the vortex is never done
tearing me to pieces
as it preaches to me
to worship digital species
Corrupted
Data
Points
Lies
Citizen cries
fall on deaf silicon ears
Keep feeding the fears
Celebrate the hate
Just an ephemeral spiral
of digital bile
thrown up with lust
worshipped
declared just
by false demigods
in silicon spires
fanning hate-fuelled fires
I can never quench
with ephemeral
desperate
frangible
dreams
Hopefully, I will see you on Substack - you can find me here. Follow me there and I will follow back!
