Hi, I'm Jakub. I make Read it!, a Chrome extension that reads web pages aloud. Select some text, click Read, and listen. It also highlights each sentence as it's spoken, so you can follow along or jump to any part.

The voice is Kokoro, an open-source speech model that runs on your own computer. Nothing you read is sent to a server. There's no account, no subscription and no tracking. The only download is the voice model, once, and after that it works offline.

I built it because I wanted to listen to long articles and docs without pasting them into a paid service. It turned into a side project that takes a lot of evenings: making it say dates, prices and links the way a person would, handling messy page layouts, and keeping the highlight in sync on sites that keep changing under it.
