In the first post, I said: "Yes, Science is trying to change the original design of God."
God has created a creature called human beings, so intelligent, so innovative that they are able to understand the human anatomy and intricacies of a human body, they are now able to copy what God has done and reproduce it.
One Korean pastor said this over the pulpit, "Satan is the chief copycat." In another article, it is written, "The devil is a genuine copycat. He has never specialized in originality. He has always seen the value of copying something and confusing the issues." (The Great Imitator, Greg Laurie, Jan 12, 2009). God is a Creator, an originator.
Then there is "cloning" - it was believed that "Eve", is the 1st human clone of a 31-year-old American woman who donated the DNA for the cloning process, had the resulting embryo implanted and then gestated the baby. How about "test tube babies" (produced from in vitro fertilization, known as IVF)? In IVF, an egg is removed from a woman, and is fertilized in a laboratory setting by the insertion of sperm cells into the dish. Once the egg is fertilized and the exchange of chromosomal material takes place, the embryo is implanted in the uterus, with the hope that implantation will occur and a pregnancy will continue to healthy birth. In certain cases, by the use of another man's sperm or another woman's egg.
God's command to man : "Be fruitful and multiply." has been repeated over and over again in the Bible. It is clear that God wants man to reproduce. There is a need to understand God's mind when he said: "Be fruitful and multiply". He has given us the body and the natural mechanism to be fruitful and multiply. He doesn't need our help. Yet, how about the many married couples who have wanted to have a baby and cannot?
I know of a couple (a pastor and wife) who has been childless for eleven years and they finally conceived their one and only son naturally after several long years. There is also another couple (also pastor and wife) who has remained childless. Perhaps their love for God and their desire to see God's natural provision far outweighs their desire for a child, which also allows them to remain peaceful and contented despite their situation.
In fact, knowing the nature of God, he always gives us a choice. As much as he has the power to stop Adam and Eve from sinning in the Garden of Eden, he allowed them to exercise their choice. Sadly, when their choice, which is not in alignment with the instruction of God, they had to bear the consequences of their sin. Of course, people will question about how can helping a childless couple have a baby be immoral?
We see that Science has been able to make a lot of things that were not possible in the past to become possible. Yet how do we make our choices? Easier said than done, many will say. In 1 Corinthians 10:23 “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything"—but not everything is constructive.
God is Merciful. God is able. He abundantly gives and from him we abundantly receive.
