2024: Starting Strong on Monday

2024: Starting Strong on Monday

Mar 11, 2024

If you feel like you're stuck in the same place every year, it may be because you lack vision and goals. You don't need fancy planners to make things happen in 2024. All you need is a pen and paper (or a notes app) to envision your goals for 2024.

How will this help you? You'll make progress on things that matter to you. You'll find balance in your life without having to compromise one aspect of it for another, such as sacrificing family time for work or vice versa. You'll avoid anxiety because achieving things will make you feel good and confident. So, what would you like to celebrate 12 months from now?

When you write your goals down, you make them clearer and hold yourself accountable for them. A Chinese proverb says:

The faintest ink is more powerful than the strongest memory.

I find it useful to divide my goals into eight important (for me) categories: Health, Personal Development, Relationships, Wealth, Career, Hobbies, Travel, and Lifestyle. Here are some examples:

  • Health:

    • Goal: Achieve an active lifestyle.

    • Example: Exercise at least three times a week.

  • Personal Development:

    • Goal: Cultivate a growth mindset.

    • Example: Read a book every month from different genres.

  • Relationships:

    • Goal: Strengthen connections with loved ones.

    • Example: Schedule family or friend gatherings every week.

  • Wealth:

    • Goal: Build a robust financial foundation.

    • Example: Invest in diversified portfolios each month.

  • Career:

    • Goal: Advance professional growth.

    • Example: Attend at least one relevant conference or workshop.

  • Hobbies:

    • Goal: Cultivate personal interests and passions.

    • Example: Dedicate time weekly to practice your hobby.

  • Travel:

    • Goal: Explore new places and cultures.

    • Example: Plan at least one international trip and visit at least one local attraction.

  • Lifestyle:

    • Goal: Create a fulfilling and balanced life.

    • Example: Simplify and organize both your physical and digital environments.

Setting 1 or 2 examples for each area will help you reach your goals. The key is to approach them with a flexible mindset, staying committed to personal growth and well-being.

I have also created a minimal design for the goals overview, including these categories and a 100-day habit tracker. The designs are minimal, black and white, and easily printable. They're available in both English and Romanian.

While I typically use Apple Notes or Notion for this, paper is always a good idea, especially when you want to reduce screen time. Seeing the paper every day on my desk keeps me motivated to work towards my goals.

I hope this post helps or inspires you to create your own vision board for 2024.

Wishing you a happy and productive year!
