Nowadays, chatbots have become an integral part of our daily lives, providing us with assistance in finding information, entertainment, learning, and solving a variety of tasks. 🤖

However, how to choose the most suitable chatbot for yourself? What criteria should be considered when evaluating their quality❓

In this article, I will compare two popular chatbots: ChatGPT and Bing Chat. 🧐

ChatGPT is a chatbot that can chat about any topic and generate code, help you do your homework, create emails, share recipes, etc. It has become an indispensable assistant for almost everything. On the other hand, Microsoft Bing Chat runs on OpenAI’s next-generation GPT-4 language model and can also help you write texts and gather ideas and facts from various sources.

So, let’s take a look at the similarities and differences between the two. 👀

Accessibility

Both Bing Chat and ChatGPT are open to everyone.

ChatGPT requires you to sign up with your email address and confirm your phone number. Bing Chat is available through the Edge browser on all platforms, including smartphones 📱. What’s more, Bing Chat is now available in other Microsoft apps, including Skype and Teams. 🚀

Language Models

The free version of ChatGPT runs on the GPT 3.5 language model, while Bing Chat runs on the latest GPT-4 language model. This in itself makes Bing Chat more powerful 💪 than ChatGPT.

However, if you want to access GPT-4 in ChatGPT, it is available through the ChatGPT Plus subscription.

Up-to-date Information

Bing Chat is trained to use the latest data to answer your queries. It can even retrieve the latest information from the Internet to give you relevant answers.

For example, I asked Bing Chat, “What is the latest model of iPhone in 2023?”

And I asked the same question to ChatGPT: “What is the latest model of iPhone in 2023?”

ChatGPT is currently unable to access the latest information unless you are a paid ChatGPT Plus subscriber.💲 It is important to remember that ChatGPT are limited to a knowledge base until 2021❗

Pricing

While both ChatGPT and Bing Chat are available for free, GPT-4, the latest language model, is tied to a ChatGPT Plus subscription for a monthly fee of $20. 😱

Contrarily, Microsoft is using GPT-4 in Bing Chat and has no plans to charge users. Instead, Microsoft generates revenue from ads displayed in the browser.

Choosing a Chat Mode

Bing Chat offers you three chat modes to choose from: “More Creative” 🎨 for imaginative discussions, “More Balanced”⚖️ for friendly and informative chats, and “More Precise” 📊 for concise and formal conversations.

However, ChatGPT doesn’t have these dialogue modes. It’s a natural language chatbot designed for human conversation. Bing also provides users with links to official websites where they can find more information, a feature not available in ChatGPT.

Built-in Image Generator

Bing Chat has a built-in AI-based image generator that can create images based on the query you enter. Microsoft has integrated Open AI Dall-E-2 into its browser for this purpose.

For example: I asked Bing Image Creator, “Create a thinking robot with a real human face,” and here’s what it created for me. As you can see, I used one of the four offered images in my article.😍

ChatGPT does not have a built-in image generator and can only offer text-based responses.

In this article, I did a comparison of two chatbots: ChatGPT and Bing Chat focusing on two criteria: interest and usefulness.⚖️

The study showed that Bing outperforms ChatGPT in all these aspects. Bing has a better and more original ability to communicate with the user on different topics and mimic different speech styles. It is also able to provide useful and relevant information to the user’s query by utilizing its own search index and web search.

In summary, based on my analysis, it can be concluded that Bing Chat is superior to ChatGPT in terms of interest, usefulness, and relevance. 🚀

However, I would like to add that I use both chatbots as and when needed; lately, I have been using Bing more frequently.

I think we all need necessary and up-to-date information for today.
