In 2019, my wife and I invested all we had into a dilapidated church in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. We hoped to make it a home for our young family. Instead, we found over one hundred years of significant archaeological misunderstanding and neglect - conditions that prevented any practical home-making. Now, we camp outside in the cemetery while we fight academia and the establishment, doubling-down on its past mistakes, to put right what Victorian speculation had corrupted - the original eighteenth century understanding and true origin of the church site and its bells, both created to serve a Knights Templar convent in the twelfth century... we fight to preserve one of the most significant medieval finds in Scotland.
