Introducing: Foxlore - September Issue

Sep 13, 2023

Where can we find you right now and what are you up to?

We are releasing our sophomore album, “Noisserped”, on 25 Aug which will be up for streaming

over on Spotify, Apple Music and wherever you like. The physical release of the vinyl will be

made available to purchase on our Bandcamp platform. The release will be accompanied by a

stunning music video of the song, “Electrified”, taken from the album - a dark, unconventional

track but yet captivating all at the same time.

Tell us a bit about your influences.

We’re all driven by the sound of the 90s but also lots of timeless post punk and British indie

acts. You can hear infuences from bands like Slowdive, Joy Division, New Order, Editors and

Primal Scream.

How did you start?

From a husband-wife duo in Malaysia, Troy and Selene, to an international ensemble in Sydney

including Serena, Brendan, and Chase, our music journey evolved. Along the way, we crossed

paths with music industry talents, amplifying our exposure and enriching our sonic tale.

How will artists be influenced by the rapid change in technology in the future in your opinion?

What will change?

Our hearts lean toward the vintage approach - how music is discovered is exceptionally special

and personal. Live music was where people uncovered bands and music, untouched by online

prominence. Nowadays, the landscape is molded by the hand of social media, where personal

connections fade. The rapport with fans, listeners, and the press becomes pixelated. Artists find

themselves entrusting screens to cultivate engagement and virtual presence, as the digital

realm reigns supreme.

What obstacles does an emerging artist have to face in our time?

The spotlight often fixates on social media metrics for venues, organizers, record labels, and

prominent press. Countless gifted artists remain hidden, their absence from physical arenas and

industry interactions hindering their rise, a scenario that's even more complex for Asian talents.

Independent artists carry a heavy burden, investing significant toil to amplify their music and

band's presence, yet frequently encountering minuscule outcomes. Moreover, challenges stem

from financial considerations, as venues demand fees, and the resulting ticket sales struggle to

offset expenses linked to the event.

In what way, in your opinion, could someone get real fans?

Keeping social media active and play more gigs. Also, strive to gain more attention and market

the band to online music press.

What are your goals? Where do you see yourself in five years?

Never stop gaining more listeners and followers from any part of the world. Perhaps, getting a

record deal and a management contract would make a great deal too.

What is your favorite movie? What would you suggest to our readers?

Richard Linklater trilogy - “Before Sunrise”, “Before Sunset” and “Before Midnight”. It’s a story

about the reality of love, pain, human relationships and passion.

Tell us about your latest or upcoming release.

The album's themes revolve around the human experience, with songs that touch on love, loss,

and finding meaning in a seemingly bleak world. "Noisserped" showcases a canvas of

remarkable vocal prowess, intricate guitar work, and lots of relentless rhythm sections. The

album is both deeply personal and universally relatable, with songs that range from

introspective to anthemic. We can’t wait for the listeners to hear it!
