Hi Therese, so good to have you in our magazine once again! Your upcoming single, "Everything Hurts," seems to capture the rollercoaster of emotions many of us experience. Can you share more about the inspiration behind this song?

I thought 2022 was rough but 2023 came in serving me a punch like I’ve never experienced before. Its’ inspiration comes from a place of pure bliss to genuine heartache and not knowing how you got from one place to the next.

Dealing with the ups and downs of life, especially in 2023, can be challenging. How does "Everything Hurts" serve as your personal sounddtrack to navigate these emotional twists and turns?

It truly is the perfect response when you’re unable to pinpoint exactly WHAT hurts. The older I get the more I find everything hurts - I’m trying to practice a smoother and less reactive approach to life in general. Just let it happen.

The song touches on the topic of mental health. How important is it for you to address such vulnerable subjects in your music, and what message do you hope to convey to your listeners?

From someone who suffers with chronic perfectionism & and an over active work ethic, my mental health has paid the price in recent years. Especially being a solo artists in Los Angeles navigating it all alone. It’s important that I write about what I’m going through so that listeners can find comfort knowing they’re not alone.

The recording of "Everything Hurts" was beautifully accidental. Can you share more about how the spontaneous decision to record this track came about and the creative process that followed?

The EP was set to be 3 songs - we finished those songs with time to spare and instead of writing something new or covering a song, Everything Hurts felt like the perfect button to the EP.

As a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, do you feel the city's vibrant music scene influences your sound or artistic perspective? If so, in what ways?

I’d love to say it does but it absolutely doesn’t. Sure, I’m inspired by my peers & their hustle, always - but my sound will always be 100% authentically mine & I pride myself on that. I don’t like to be influenced by the happenings or what’s trending - odds are if it’s trending, it’s already on its way out.

How do you approach songwriting, especially when drawing inspiration from personal experiences and emotions? Are there specific rituals or methods you follow?

Not at all - it’s very intuitive. When it’s ready to come through it will present itself.

Beyond music, are there other art forms or influences that inspire your creativity, whether it's visual arts, literature, or any other form of expression?

I love to read and I love to watch people dance through life.

Looking forward, what are your aspirations for your music in 2024, and are there specific goals or projects you're excited to pursue?

I just released my debut EP “Ode To A Clown” January 26th - I’m about to go back on a European tour singing with Scary Pockets and I’m looking forward to producing/releasing more music through the year.
