“It took awhile to get me here and I’m gonna take my time” “Blow Your Mind” x Eve
(Started draft January 1, 2025)
Wow, 2025. Time is really flying. A few friends asked about my plans and goals for this year. I confidently shared that I haven’t created any. I just met myself last year.
She just got here.
I want to welcome her home like a country cousin from down south. You know? The cousins that are gonna make sure you are comfortable, you eat good, they let you rest and make sure you have a good time.
I can’t imagine trying to rearrange her. Or fix. Or deprive and restrict. It’s probably best not to burden her with the first day of the year traditions, planning, and optimism. I believe the best way for me to welcome this version of myself into the new year is not to seek change.
New Year’s is a universal acknowledgment of time’s passage and the collective desire for progress and positivity. Along with reflection and gratitude, it is a time for renewal and fresh starts. In the past, I set goals with expectations to achieve all of them in a year and would feel insecure setting goals the next year after reflecting on all the goals I didn’t achieve. Last year I achieved many of my important goals. Most proudly, I evolved into the woman I started manifesting in 2020.
Although this is a new calendar year, it’s just a new day for me. Instead of celebrating a new year, I am celebrating the newly evolved me. The beautiful thing about coming into self-awareness and being an adult is that you can create your own traditions. I acknowledge the spring equinox as my new year. The natural reawakening of the earth is a more appropriate time for me to focus on fresh starts, renewals, and goal setting so that is when I will do so.
Not creating goals for myself at this time is a courageous act of liberation. It is more important for me to honor the awareness of the changes and important experiences that manifested the emergence of the being I am right now. 2024 was one of the most transformative years of my life. Instead of focusing on changing and goal setting at this time, I intend to reflect on and acquire wisdom from my experiences, express gratitude for my achievements, and take inventory of the needs that this version of myself requires to continue to evolve. This also involves me honoring my body needs at this time which are resting, physical, mental, and spiritual nourishment, and lots of play (I have been having fun all year *get it? lol).
At this time, I have no desire to plan the pursuit of anything outside of the present moment. I will evolve in 2025, but this ain’t the day for me to determine how.
I still cleaned my house though.
Happy New Year.
