A frustration about marketplaces

This post is bit one of a kind really, as I have refrained from talking critically or negatively. But I want to put this one out there.

I enjoy playing tabletop roleplaying games, and this is core reason why I create the assets too! However, the marketplaces can be really frustrating.

Roll20. The minimum price of a product 4.99. I don't understand this limitation at all considering artists are selling small, digital products. There are loads of things I consider to be valued lot less, and I think we artists would be also happy to sell them for less (and still make money).

Not only it ruins the possibility to buy smaller packs, it clearly drives more artists to produce really low quality packs, where they draw maybe couple of assets, and then recolor them for 10 variations. Then the product boldly states to contain 70+ assets. A very derivative symptom of price limitations.

Maybe there are reasons why such limitation is in place. Maybe it is to drive the quality of products up a bit. But right now I don't see it being a big help overall. Not for the artist, not for the paying customer, and therefore, not for the platform as a whole.
