HELLO Community!
For the past five years, I have been writing and refining my most personal collection of songs and poetry. I am finally at a stage where I am ready to record a second album and use my voice and music to heal and uplift others.
When I returned to Canada almost a year ago the plan was to tour as much of Northern Ontario as possible. I landed in Toronto where I first stayed for over a month.... Recovering from an improvised and mostly arduous 5 month trip overseas, finally broken free from an abusive relationship. During my time in Toronto I reconnected with my old yet ever present yoga community in Greektown and I briefly contemplated staying to make the city a home base for work and play.
However.... being a northerner at heart and in love with winter.... I knew that the charm and insulation of the snowy neighborhoods would melt and that ultimately my home and native land was Muskoka and the Almaguin Highlands. Called to return I moved in with my sister and her husband south of North Bay, with the goal to get back on my feet, find a place to stay in the area and map out a summer route. Being homeless and without work, one depending on the other, I did not foresee that it would end up staying this way for many more months than planned when my sisters place was not the open door I thought it could be.
Quickly I managed to rent an off season airbnb and a vehicle and I found myself in Gravenhurst. I played open mics and other gigs, looked for work, despite my health being burnt out to manage the ever increasing rent but was eventually forced out of the stay as spring arrived. Shelters were full, resources were sparse and options were narrow. Once again I found an airbnb before any other much needed duck, located an hours drive north in Nobel, Carling, on Georgian Bay. Although I continued to survive difficult circumstances and resumed looking for work the beauty and solace of this somewhat remote location was a welcome retreat. With fond nostalgia I relived and remembered lost parts of me experiencing once more the landscape of rural communities and wilderness of Canada.
FFWD..... Second verse same as the first...... This was a short term seasonal rental with rates rising higher and faster as summer arrived..... Not so the place to call my home. Yet good news before more of the bad..... I landed a great job, a perfect duck in the northwestern corner of the Muskoka Lakes region, and I looked forward to a life on track. Now that work was established I looked for housing closer to it. No sooner had it started (within a month) did the position stop without sign, notice, communication or respect from the woman in charge, only false mask and reason. From this so called esteemed business I had to kindly request payment and corrections to payment multiple times. Almost three weeks after my disposal I was informed by my supervisor that my cheque was at a different staff house for pick up, and there I where I would find it in the woman's office crumpled and stained on her desk.

It was mid July. Summer half over.
No job, had to get out of the cottage I was renting.
Not enough paperwork and no good credit to buy or finance a vehicle or rent an apartment yet. I was trapped in airbnb's and a car rental paid mostly by the one I spent years trying to break free from.

Third verse..... Found a room in Port Carling.....
Landlord says yes and there's no red tape.
1K rent for a bed and shower. No kitchen no laundry.
Ironically it is in the heart of billionaires town and directly across from the staff house and business where I was formerly employed.
"and I work in a market as a check out girl.... I know things will get better...."
I should have taken my fast car and just toured like I wanted to.

This fundraiser was not created for me.
It was not even created this year but three years ago when things for me were not as dire.
Dire...... extremely serious, terrible, or desperate.
Describing a situation or quality that is urgent or pressing, deeply concerning, needing immediate action to avoid disaster (e.g., in dire need of help).
It came to exist for people and communities in Africa inspired after a trip in 2012 wanting to contribute to sustainable solutions for developing countries. After a second trip last year I decided not to wait until the page was perfect and published it early this year, adding to it as life evolves.
After returning to Canada I am blindsided to experience that we have many of the same problems and that there is a critical need to advocate for funding for social services, mental health, domestic abuse, suicide awareness and more.
This is only part of my story 2026 as I have always struggled with mental health, belonging and identity issues as an adopted person ..... Life has been significantly more unstable for well over a decade now yet believing things would get better. I never imagined myself surviving this reality, walking through fire.....living on the edge.... My seasonal lease expires at the end of October and I face another cycle or verse. The truth has reached a point that it can't be hidden anymore. And for anyone who has similar experiences I Feel You. You’re not alone.

FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS
As it happens, this little rental I have stumbled upon of all places in the heart of home is only half a container built on a property and business for sale..... Going for 1, 795,000 ..... The moment I laid eyes on it I knew it could be something that dreams are made of...... Work and Art that support local and global communities.
My proposal is to purchase the establishment and make a headquarters for the initiatives below including my goals as a musician and artist. If the money doesn't come fast enough and the landlord does something else with the property..... So be it...... The funds can easily continue to support this enterprise and readiness to start new and bold projects, including the need for essential services in our community as well as environmental protection in the developing world which is connected to our own.
