The sun shone down on Hull Ionians Rugby Club yesterday afternoon, though the heat was tempered by a pleasant breeze. It was pleasing to see that a number of modifications had been made to the viewing areas since ickledot’s previous visit, most notably modernised steps leading down to the pitch, complete with handrail for those requiring a little more support.
Speaking of support, a good crowd had turned out to see this latest Roses encounter between the two counties’ Under 17s squads. The home side scored quite early in the game and set about building a healthy lead.
However, Lancashire fought back and were within a score or so midway through the second forty. Yorkshire had to survive a good deal of pressure before extending their lead once more, first with the try above and then the one below.
Well done to both sides for competing well throughout, particularly in sun hot conditions. Congratulations to Yorkshire for completing a first Roses victory in several years at this age level. Hope you enjoy the other pictures from the game!
