Change of Plans, as the Lotus would say in some Warframe missions...
A few days ago I update my goals for this blog to reflect the problems with my Ryzen build (you can read about it when I build that in this post back in 2022), as I stated on my new goals, I´m down to change the motherboard or the CPU and those costs are still way too high here (around 270 US dollars converting local prices for new parts) and getting a used board or CPU for testing is near impossible given the very few people wanting to sell one of these AM4 platforms used or the high prices they ask for them, making that option not the most viable... maybe in a few months when Argentina administration start to cut down taxes regarding imports and electronics is going to be easier.
So for the moment, my goal is to secure an old i7 3770 rig that is from a costumer. He is going to use a i7 7700 (not K), DDR4 with everything update almost to the max with that other older i7 being the leftover after I passed over a few pieces like the big mechanical drivers for archives and a GTX 1660 Super.
So what are the "remains" that could save me?
CPU: i7 3770 LGA 1155 (Third Gen, launched in 2012)
Motherboard: GA-B75M-HD3
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 (I can get that to 16 for relative cheap)
Storage: Gigabyte SSD 480 GB (of course I will install the HDD used on my Ryzen for extra storage)
Video Card: GTX 1050 Ti 4Gb (was installed in the i7 7700 before, not the actual phot I was changing the thermal paste, but reference picture of the same model in the bottom)
PSU: Gamemax 700W Bronze (missing the extra cables, but that is fixable)
Here in Argentina something like this can still be expensive, but is still cheaper than a the new CPU/board option since this entire rig is worth the near same as those new loose parts alone but its safer so I can get a solid system to keep working while I fix the Ryzen machine (or even improve it, since I think that the problem with my Ryzen system is that the motherboard was weak for my use case in the end).
This is also an advice for people needing a machine for working but at the same time some gamming. For people reading this over the US, Europe or Asia, getting this LGA 1155 processor can be really cheap and this processors are really capable of doing pretty much everything in a decent way. Putting together one of these rigs, with decent parts can be far cheaper than a new system (and safer given the recent fiasco with Intel CPUs degradation for example). I will post here a Budget Builds Official video speaking of the original i7s that can explain this a lot better than a few paragraphs, so get and get one of this CPUs!:
Below a few pictures of the rig, it even is in a nice Thermaltake case, help me if you can!

See you all in the next post I hope, have some things regarding citizen science and retro computing to share!
