A good play brings history skilfully onto the stage. Do you tell it through exposition? Character? Does it unfold over time? Do you play with time? You will have to bring history in though...

Theatre cannot escape the theatre it's in, many have tried to do this by staging plays in all sort of locations, but you will always be in front of an audience, it cannot escape that, unless the audience is removed, but then it becomes film.
