A continuous stream of thoughts on acting.

Can the act of acting be less about me trying to justify myself and more about me offering a creative choice to people?

You become a prostitute when you try to guess what they want to see, how they want the character to behave, you become an artist when you decide on what you want to see, how you want to act.

Fight for character, bring the creativity back into it. Truth is only what you make of it. My idea of how I believe someone behaves is naturalistic, not to someone else, but to me it is. Fight for that.

How lightly can I touch the character? How much can it seem I have always said these things, I have always spoken like this?

Pushing is just fear. Fear I won’t be heard. Fear my work won’t be seen. Fear I won’t be loved. Stay in the fear and find the form of freedom.

Screen is about the image, stage is about the sound and the image.

They will always want what you bring, what you truly bring.

On camera, all you need to really do is listen. Wait for your response to emerge. Then listen again.

You build character from how you respond to people and things. Not from how many legs you have.
