Becoming someone you trust

Becoming someone you trust

May 18, 2026

Last week we got into it. The relationships that pull us thin, the people we love so much we forget where they end and we begin.

This week? We come home.

Instead of looking at how we show up for everyone else, we are looking at the one relationship that quietly shapes all the others.

The one with yourself.

Specifically, learning to trust yourself again. Your instincts. Your knowing. That quiet voice that has been trying to get your attention for a long time.

That is what this whole week is about. And it starts with one honest question.

When did you stop trusting yourself?

Think of a time you knew something, deep in your body, before your mind caught up.

Now think of what happened next. Did you listen? Did you override it? Did someone tell you that you were wrong?

Stay there for ten seconds. Not to judge yourself. Just to remember that you have always known more than you let yourself believe.

PAUSE. BREATHE. WRITE.

3 to 8 minutes

Quick and Dirty, 3 minutes: Complete this sentence: "I stopped trusting myself when..." Let the first honest answer come without editing it.

Go Deeper, 5 to 8 minutes: Who or what taught you that your instincts could not be relied on? Was it a person, a relationship, a string of painful decisions, a childhood where your feelings were consistently overridden? What did you decide about yourself as a result, and have you ever questioned whether that decision was actually true?

TAROT CARD OF THE WEEK

THE HIGH PRIESTESS

The High Priestess sits between two pillars, a veil behind her, a scroll in her lap. She does not speak. She does not explain herself. She simply knows.

She is the part of you that has always known.

The part that sensed something was off before you had words for it. The part that felt the truth of a situation in your body long before your mind caught up. The part that whispered something and was told it was being dramatic, oversensitive, or wrong.

She is still there. She never left.

This is your card for the whole week. Every day we are going to go a little deeper into what she represents. The inner voice you learned to silence, and the slow, patient work of learning to hear her again.

She has been waiting. And she is so glad you are finally here.

COSMIC WEATHER REPORT

The sky’s current mood, and maybe yours too 💫

May 18 is one of the more significant days of the month, and it arrives right as this week begins.

Venus moves into Cancer today, shifting from Gemini's quick, curious energy into something far warmer and more inward. Cancer is the sign of home, of emotional safety, of nurturing. Venus here is less interested in sparkle and more interested in softness. In genuine comfort. In the kind of love that does not need to perform. For a week about coming home to yourself, Venus entering Cancer is almost too fitting. The sky is literally turning inward with you.

Mars also moves into Taurus today, leaving behind the fire and urgency of Aries and settling into something steadier. Taurus Mars is slow, deliberate, and deeply embodied. It builds things that last. It acts from values rather than impulse. This is beautiful energy for the work of rebuilding self-trust, which is never a dramatic gesture but always a slow, steady accumulation of small honest choices.

And tonight, if you step outside just after sunset and look west, you will find the crescent Moon and Venus glowing close together in the sky. A tender little reminder that even the cosmos knows how to keep good company.

What this means for today: everything is settling. The urgency is lifting. The sky is asking you to slow down, turn inward, and begin building something that actually belongs to you.

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE: FIVE DAYS OF SELF-TRUST

This week I'd like to do something a little different.

Every day, at the end of each letter, you will find one small Self-Trust Challenge. Five days. Five tiny real-world acts of coming back to yourself. They build on each other, so you will want to open every single one.

Today's challenge is the foundation. Everything this week grows from here.

Day 1 Challenge — THE OVERRIDE CATCH

Today, every time you change your answer after someone pushes back, notice it. You don't have to stop doing it. Just catch it happening. Put a little tally somewhere if it helps.

That's it. No fixing. No judging. Just watching.

By the end of the day you will have something more honest than a journal entry. You will have actual data about how often you override yourself, and for whom.

Tomorrow we look at the promises you have been quietly breaking to yourself. The small ones. The ones nobody else even knows about. You will want to open it.

GRATITUDE MOMENT

Today, be grateful for the part of you that kept knowing anyway.

Even when you stopped listening. Even when you overrode it or dismissed it or told yourself it was being ridiculous. Some quiet part of you kept sensing the truth of things, kept sending signals, kept trying to get through.

That part never gave up on you even when you gave up on it.

That is what this whole week is built on.

I love hearing from you 📬
