Holiday Treasures

Holiday Treasures

Dec 25, 2023

I’ve had my fair share of holidays with nothing on the table or no presents underneath the tree. During these times of suffering, I’ve had to look at my children and ask myself what I did wrong that I couldn’t give them anything. But in these times, they are the ones who teach me that it’s not about the big presents underneath the tree. They have handmade gifts to me, written me letters from the heart and gifted those to me instead. And it warms my heart all over.

I may not know much, but I know this…

The situation you are in is temporary…and it shall pass the same as how time ticks. Don’t feel as if it will forever be the only place you will be in. The beauty about life is that we can make changes to our lives and those changes can open big doors.

Someone asked me, “Do you think moving so far away was right?” I thought a lot about this question and my thoughts included this:

When we lived in Minnesota, I couldn’t pay for one single vacation or give my children the gift of travelling anywhere…moving, I was able to pay and plan for 8 vacations in one year.

I believe we made the right choice because our life got better. And we were able to do the things we always wanted to. Before you can take care of anyone else outside of your own household, you have to be able to care for your family first. We weren’t able to do that before and now we can. So don’t let people make you feel bad about your decisions. You know best what is great for you.

With the holidays here, I remind you to live your best life with the people who hold you dear in their lives. Choose to forgive even if they don’t apologize. Happiness is much too great to give up.

Merry Christmas
