I was always so afraid to hear the word “yes” because I was so used to hearing “no” that a “yes” was so foreign to me. I really thought that the entire world was going to tell me no on whatever adventure or life changing journey I took. But that was only because I hung around with people who never had the power to tell me “YES.” The people I included in my circle were the ones who had the limit to a “No.”
Does this sound familiar to you? The people you let hang around you play an important role in how you see yourself and how you reach your goals. Most often, you find that people who dream too little believe your dreams are too big. They will tell you to set more realistic goals, to be more honest with yourself and to stop dreaming so big. But that is only because they are limited to their abilities and if they were to applaud you, you would for sure go ahead of them.
And because you’ve been hearing “No” all your life, you assume the truth and you reconsider that perhaps your dream is too big after all. Until someone else lives the dream you set and regret sets in. This is a film we have seen all too often and through the years that we silently weep, we find that no comfort comes at all because we were the hand that did our destruction.
Today, remind yourself…you deserve a “YES,” and go for it even if no one else believes you can do it. You believe you can do it so reach for it without holding back. The only person who will feel let down is you when others move forward and you cannot. Don’t be afraid and feel you have to wait for permission from another to live the way you should. When they make a move in their life to become better, you are not at the back of their mind.
