Hi, I'm Katie, the main voice behind the screen, my husband Kyle is the star of the show doing most of the heavy lifting. I started our social media pages and blog when Kyle and I first moved to Alaska in spring of 2016, mostly as a sort of journal for my family and friends to follow along as we tried out a new way of life. We purchased raw land an hour from the road after visiting Alaska on our much too short honeymoon. We've had so many adventures since moving, including sleeping on the ground around a campfire when we missed the tide, getting stuck in the quicksand mud on our beaches, finding mineral concretions, and building a tiny cabin. Now we have moved even further from the road and are rehabbing a 1930's three story A-frame cabin together with our two girls. We are excited to get back into the homestead swing of things soon with a big garden, greenhouse, ducks, rabbits and maybe even a cow. Supporting us by sharing our social media posts, leaving tips here, or purchasing merch in our shop goes a long way towards those goals!
