Delicious Ramen Shops in Kyoto ๐
I've created a Google Maps list of delicious ramen shops in Kyoto. The list mainly features places I and other locals frequent. Kyoto ramen is generally categorized into the following three types:
- Rich soy sauce ramen made with pork bone and pork meat broth.
- Ramen with a chicken broth base topped with back fat.
- Chicken paitan ramen (rich, creamy chicken broth).
All three types are characterized by their rich, thick soup, and their influence has spread nationwide, not just through the original shops and their disciples' chains, but also through variations.
In this ancient city of Kyoto, there exists a ramen culture that proudly carries the name 'Kyoto Ramen.' One proof of this is the surprisingly high number of ramen shops in the city. Especially in the Ichijoji area of Sakyo Ward, which is one of the most competitive ramen districts in Kansai, many shops compete for the best flavor.
