I’m a specialist careers adviser supporting parents and carers in disabled and neurodivergent families to find flexible work when life at home is complicated. I'm a late diagnosed AuDHDer myself, a parent to two neurodivergent children, and a home educator to my youngest.
I write about the intersections between work, education, neurodivergence, disability, politics and social justice. Topics such as school distress, the SEND system, attendance policies, welfare, precarious work, and finding and securing work that works as a full-time parent-carer.
My aim is to give a voice to parents and carers of neurodivergent and disabled children who are routinely marginalised, misrepresented and blamed by the education, health and social care systems they have to battle their way through.
In my weekly 'Work That Works' newsletter, I also share practical tips and advice on finding work that works around complex family life.
A couple of things readers have said:
“What you wrote really resonated with me. You captured so clearly that sense of living outside of time while supporting and experiencing burnout as an autistic parent-carer… it felt like such an important contribution to the conversations I’m seeing within the ND community.”
“Thank you for knowing and for seeing, validating and verbalising what I’ve been far too exhausted to explain very well. I’m forwarding this to my husband as well so he can see that somewhere out there in the world, people do get it, get us and where we’re at.”
If something I wrote has resonated with you, articulated something about your experience, helped you make sense of something, or made you feel validated and less alone, this is a simple way to support that work.
Thank you for being here.
