About Harvesting Nature
Creating Podcasts, Wild Game Recipes, Films, and Outdoor Articles
Harvesting Nature was founded in 2011 as a blog discussing the intersection of wild food and cooking. Through the hard work of many people, it has grown into something far greater. It is now a multi-faceted media and education company that touches so many areas of the outdoor world. Our mission focuses on inspiring and educating the outdoor community, experts and novices alike, to get out to hunt, fish, forage, and cook food from the wild. We want to see people step outside their comfort zone, get off the couch, and find their own adventures for food.
Our website is the hub of our company. There are over one thousand recipes, how-tos, and adventure articles. You can also sign up for camps, buy clothing, books, and spices, and watch our short films. Anything and everything you want to know about cooking wild game is there for the reading. If not, let us know, and we will whip something up.
The Wild Fish and Game podcast has been active since 2019, with over 200 episodes. Join Justin Townsend and the Harvesting Nature Crew as they guide you through the world of cooking wild fish and game meat, their adventures to obtain food, and the lessons learned along the way. They are also frequently joined by some of the most influential people in the world of wild food to dive deep into food conversation to positively promote the lifestyle of harvesting, cooking, and eating wild food. Listen to the show wherever you get your podcasts!
Our line of spice blends was created to enhance wild food and is never intended to overpower the natural terroir of wild game, fish, or foragables. You worked for your harvest, and we want you to enjoy it. Our blends were developed and selected by skilled chefs with the hunter, angler, and forager in mind. We tested multiple combinations across multiple animals and fish before we landed on the perfect blend for each, similar to how painters mix color combinations until they get the perfect hue.
Each year, we host multiple culinary-focused hunting, fishing, and foraging camps, which teach people more about harvesting, butchering, and cooking wild food. We typically target invasive or overpopulated species to contribute to conservation efforts across the country. Come join us in Texas for wild pigs, Missouri for Snow Geese, Oregon for Crabbing, and the Deep South for prime Whitetail hunting. Wherever we host our camp, you are bound to walk away with a better appreciation for hunting, butchering, and cooking wild fish and game.
Since the beginning, we have focused on educating and inspiring people to get outdoors and pursue their food from the wild. We have bridged many gaps, discussed complex issues, and created a community where people can talk freely and openly about wild food, their experiences, and their mistakes for the sake of education and passion. Enjoy being a part of this community, and always Eat More Wild Game!
