I spent today working on my book at The Rock Pizza, with a birthday pizza helping to fuel the process, and today's editing got me thinking...
...What if we’ve made Jesus a lot more complicated than He ever intended?
It started so simple. Jesus showed up as a regular dude. He didn't have to. He didn't have to put human skin on, but He did. He came as a regular dude who then chose 12 other regular dudes. It's one of the reasons why so many missed Him, because He didn't appear as they were expecting Him to appear. They were looking for something in the form of a God, but Jesus showed up in the form of a human instead, and poured His life and message into these dudes and sent them out to tell others who He was and what He was all about.
Somewhere along the way however, religion got involved and complicated the whole thing.
Which is why I’m writing this book. I'm hoping it will help get us humans back on track. Back to the Original plan — Jesus, ordinary people, and the simple invitation to know God and include Him in our every day ordinary lives
The book still has a ways to go. It's been sent off to the copy editor, who is now assigning me the necessary work to make the book the best it can be. So the book isn’t finished yet, but it’s getting closer and I can't wait to get it out there!
So while we wait, here is an excerpt from today's editing. (Please be kind, we're still in editing mode).
. . . Jesus didn’t care about such titles; He walked the earth and called these dudes to follow Him. He then spent the next three years living with them and hanging out with them, while He poured His life, His truth, His way and His message into them. Then, right before He was brutally tortured and murdered, giving His life for all of mankind, He sends these plain old regular dudes out with that same message, truth, way, life and way of living.
Of the people that knew these 12 were sent by God, they believed and followed. For this message, this truth, this way, this life; this Yah Way of life to be taken seriously, people had to know these dudes were regular dudes, but they were also special agents on special assignments, called and designed by God Himself. The Apostle Paul said that he too was a special agent on special assignment. In fact, everything Paul and the 12 regular dudes did, they did as apostles, not as pastors or teachers. Everything they did for God and His kingdom on earth, they did as special agents on special assignment.
And now I am telling you the same thing as I start this book. I am following in the same footsteps as those 12 other regular dudes. I too am a special agent. An apostle, if you will, on a special assignment. A call to return to the same message those regular dudes were given and sent out with way back then…
If you’d like to help keep me "fueled" on this assignment, a coffee…or maybe another pizza would certainly do the trick. Let's do this special assignment together!
