Langston Golf Course - Your Complete Course Strategy Guide
$3
A Performance Blueprint for Washington D.C.'s Civil Rights Course
Langston isn't just a municipal course on the Anacostia River - it's where Black golfers built a championship circuit when the rest of the game shut them out. Every hole here carries a name: Charlie Sifford, Althea Gibson, Lee Elder, Tiger Woods. You're not just playing 18 holes, you're playing through history.
And the course itself doesn't go easy on you. Deceptive bunkers placed short of the greens to wreck your depth perception, tidal winds off the Anacostia on the back nine, and a literal manhole in the 9th fairway apron - Langston demands real course management, not just a scorecard and a prayer.
This guide covers all 18 holes for Low, Mid, and High-Handicap players, tee by tee, so you know exactly where to miss and where not to.
Inside you'll get:
- Hole-by-hole strategy for all 18 holes, each tied to the pioneer it's named for
- Tee recommendations & course handicap calculations based on real driving distance data
- The full history - from the 1939 opening to the UGA championship era to the course's modern restoration fight
- Expected score projections so you walk in with a realistic target
A taste, from Hole 13 - the signature hole, named for Lee Elder:
"A 150-yard carry over the northern mouth of Kingman Lake is required. To neutralize the tidal headwinds, take one extra club and swing smoothly at 80% effort."
Play the course. Know the history. Score better doing both.
