Hello Ginger & Mingers? Is that a thing we can say? No, that feels wrong, we'll work on that.
We're rounding out a pretty cool year for Ginge & Minge so thanks for supporting us to make more cool shit! We've got one final gig at the newly established 'Airhorn' a lineup comedy show produced by our love and comedienne overlord Lesa MacLeod-Whiting on Dec 1st then we're off for the holidays!
This year we've managed to tour 'Jez & Jace' around Auckland Pride Festival, Little Andromeda in Christchurch and complete our first NZ Int. Comedy Festival season where we were nom'd alongside Lesa for Best Newcomer Wellington! As well as doing our biggest gig yet 'Loud & Queer' at the St. James Theatre to 500 people, and working alongside legends like Eli Matthewson and Tom Sainsbury?!? I MEAN MIND BLOWN.
Whilst we're ticking off goals we were most proud to debut across a bunch of cabaret and lineup shows in Wellington like Sexy Sunday Shenanigans, Soapbox (and Soapbox DELUXE), CHOPSHOP, Lads Lads Lads: A Drag King Show and Friday Laughs! Thanks to all of the amazing comedy/cabaret producers in Wellington for having us and our cooked character comedy on board.
In September we debuted our first duo sketch show 'Fame or Die'! We were delighted by the response and we have secret plans to bring this back again next year with some hot new sketches and some classics from the first show we've been honing and revising on lineups! Then it was "one for the books" where went up to Auckland to pitch and perform in the showcase as Billy T Applicants (nerve wracking to say the least). The show and pitches went fantastic and it was a joy to meet the other applicants (congrats to the nominees) and hang out with the Welly crew. Mike, Lesa, Trent and Ryan we love you #burgerclub5eva.
Then in October we taught our first workshop as a duo in the NZ Improv Festival and were delighted that so many participants got so much out of it. Below are a couple of quotes, but the best review were all those who attended and afterwards felt like character duos were super accessible and felt so much more confident to put their own ones on stage!
"This was the best workshop I did at NZIF. Really clear learning structure and activities. I feel I can use the techniques to do duo scenes with more confidence and playfulness because of this workshop. Thank you!" - NZIF Student
"The format was well organised and I loved Nina and Mog's ability to give insightful feedback" - NZIF Student
2024 has a LOT in store for Ginge & Minge just in the first 5 months alone (including international seasons and a new show) and we cannot wait to share it all with you on social media and our website!
Thanks for reading and supporting us,
Nina & Megan x
