Our Personal Journey
Packing up our lives into a few backpacks and everything else into storage , was both exhilarating and overwhelming. How do you decide what stays and what goes when you’re leaving behind everything familiar? We sorted through our belongings, asking ourselves: Is this essential? Will we really need it? It was a process of letting go—paring down to the basics and embracing the unknown. Clothes, travel essentials, a few treasured toys for the girls, and just enough creature comforts to make the unfamiliar feel a little more like home.
For Poppy (8) and Dottie (4), packing felt like the start of an adventure. They excitedly helped us (mostly by unpacking what we had already packed), chattering about what awaited us in Thailand. ‘Will there be pizza there? Can we take all my toys ? Their excitement was infectious, even as we navigated the logistics of preparing for such a big move.
The final days were a whirlwind of goodbyes. Saying farewell to family and friends was tougher than we expected, but the anticipation of what lay ahead kept us moving forward. As we locked the door to our home for the last time, the reality of our decision hit—this was it. No turning back.
