Alright y’all, this is a learning moment for me. Bear 🐼 with me as I learn how to journal with an audience…
Also, as Milton is my guest, he has contributed to my writing. The stuff that sounds like someone more developed that a third grader is likely him.
This was a good day.
I got up early and dealt with multiple calls to multiple cities trying to figure out what the hell to do with getting Jimmy King back on its wheels. No one was sure about the specs for the bolts that were sheared off and how we were going to source them locally or have them shipped in time.
We walked by an old gas station that we stayed in last time that is now a sandwich shop now called Bordo. It was still coffee time so we headed down to another old gas station that is a bike repair shop and coffee shop called the Big Sandy. We camped out there and I spent an hour plus talking to the mechanic where they towed the Jeep. I was trying to figure out what the problem was with pressing the bolts into the axle and going back and forth between the mechanic and the manufacturer and was having no luck with multiple routes. Milton then contacted the owner of the AirBnB about borrowing a car because the bartender we met the night before could not take us to Fort Stockton to get a rent a car. He (Johnny) saw us driving by when we drove by the Water-Stop restaurant by the house and tried to wave us down because our wheel was wobbling. We, of course didn’t see him. Our host of the AirBnB gave us what I named a shit box (SB1) and barely a vehicle, but Milton liked it because he had two Volvo xc90's with the same issues. The first time Milton hopped in to drive, he turned the key and said ”yep, locks up just like mine” After coffee and a nap for Milton, we ate at Bordo's and had amazing sandwiches on bread they made in an outdoor pizza oven. We were talking to the woman at the counter, and she asked what we were up to and after our response she said "wow - y'all the people that blocked the main intersection with the Jeep". After Cava and the sami’s, we went downtown to look around and, on the way, back we stopped at the Marfa Art Store next to the Art Gallery and they guy there told us they were having an art opening and we should come and we said hell yeah! On the radar for later, but….
Milton needs frequent naps. (<—Written by Milton)
We decided to go get a drink in early evening. We had a one and done at the Paisano and headed to the St. George and on the way we were admiring a building and saw Margaret's and sat down in an amazing place. It has a big community table with serving space in between. The meal was awesome and we sat kitty corner from two women headed to Austin and then New Orleans so we gave them our opinion of where to go. The waitress also said "oh, y'all are the Jeep that blocked the intersection!" Marfa infamous…

We then went to the Art Show - please see the attached photo. It is not Bob Barker....It is Georgia O'Keefe. Milton and I think it is OK to talk to anybody and everybody when we travel so we got our wine and jumped right in. Guess what - we were introduced as the two jackasses in the Jeep. We met a ton of people and everyone knows each other including the guy who stopped and gave us equipment when we broke down and our host. It was a crazy crowd.
We ended the evening talking and drinking Four Roses back at the AirBnB. Not particularly smart, y’all know me. Bourbon philosophy… Pam and Pen, I did not use the word context.
