Why Gentle King Minsitry?

Oct 11, 2026

I'm a custodian. I mop floors and empty trash cans at a school. I'm not a pastor, and I don't have a seminary degree. I'm a communicant member of an RPCNA church where the Lord has placed me under the stewardship of faithful, God-fearing men. I'm a husband and a father of two teenagers, and most nights I'm tired. So you might wonder why a guy like me spends his late nights and early mornings building websites and writing software for Christians. Here's why.

It starts with what God did for me. I didn't grow up knowing the Lord. When I first picked up the Gospel according to Matthew, I was a grown man planning to take my own life. I already felt condemned, and I was condemning myself. Matthew showed me those feelings were telling the truth. I really was guilty before a holy God, and I really did deserve His wrath. All my self-condemnation couldn't pay a cent of what I owed. Then the Lord Jesus showed me what I'd never truly seen. He came to bear the wrath His people deserved, and He paid their debt in full with His own blood. On the night He was betrayed He said, "for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins" (Matthew 26:28). I was looking for a way out of this life, and the Lord had been seeking me long before I ever thought to seek Him. "We love because he first loved us" (1 John 4:19). Everything else I do grows out of that.

Some mornings are hard. My body aches before the alarm even goes off, and some days my heart feels as cold as the hallway floors. On those mornings I drag myself up anyway, leaning on a God who stays faithful when my feelings don't. "The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness" (Lamentations 3:22-23). His mercy is already waiting for me when my feet hit the floor.

That same grace keeps me fighting my sin. Christ didn't save me to leave me the way He found me. "For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live" (Romans 8:13). I fail more than I'd like to admit. Still, I keep at it, because God's love was settled on me at the cross and the Spirit He gave me won't let me make peace with the flesh.

I also can't keep quiet about the truth. The gospel gets watered down and sold cheap these days, so Jude's words hit home for me. "Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 3). I want to stand on that old faith our fathers handed down and confessed in the Westminster Standards.

That's where Gentle King Ministry comes from. Every app and book I make is meant to serve my brothers and sisters in Christ. I picture the believer lying awake at three in the morning doubting his salvation, or a worn-out mom who wants to read her Bible and doesn't know where to start. I've been the guy awake at 3 a.m., and I want sound, Christ-centered help in their hands, free or close to it. "So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:10). God's given me this opportunity, and I don't want to waste it.

If you give here, you're helping cover hosting costs and the long hours behind the work. If you can't give, please pray for me. Either way, thanks for stopping by.

To God alone be the glory.
