¡Vaya que este reto ha sido toda una aventura!
No me esperaba avanzar tanto y hacer más de lo que pensaba que haría al final.
Dejen les cuento que ocurrió:
¡Después del primer update del reto, quise hacer un TikTok para promocionarlo y divertirme un poco con los resultados! Aprovechando que una artista que sigo acababa de aprender a usar CapCut para su propio contenido.
¿Por qué no probarlo? Pensé.
... Dios santo.
Tenía años que no editaba videos así.
Mis inicios en las redes sociales fue a través de YouTube precisamente, y disfrutaba mucho editar videos de las canciones de anime que más me gustaban, con imágenes que encontraba en internet, usando MovieMaker.
¡Clásico!
Usar CapCut fue como volver a eso, un poco. En la carrera había aprendido más de edición de vídeo y me enseñaron a utilizar programas más profesionales, y algo de eso me ayudó a que las transiciones deis videos para TikTok tengan más decencia.
De verdad, mis respetos a quienes se dedican full a la creación de contenido en redes sociales... Porque la cantidad de veces que me queme con las velas, todo el humo de cerillos que inhalé y las veces que casi quemé el sketchbook, fueron incontables.
¡En fin!
No esperaba realmente muchas visitas con eso, solo era para mostrar el trabajo y jugar un poco antes de continuar con la siguiente parte de las Mini ilustraciones.
Está fue la página que más rápido acabé. En un día y medio ya lo tenía acabo. El problema es que tuve una ligera depresión que me duró dos días, entonces, aunque la terminé rápido, seguía un poco atrasada.
¡La primera página me tomo como cuatro días en terminar!
Continué con los personajes que me faltaban de la lista anterior.
La mayoría de estos era la primera vez que los dibujaba y el tener más libertad creativa me ayudaba a no preocuparme tanto por "respetar" el diseño de los personajes, ¡ya que son nuevos!
Después de esos 6 personajes, me quedé en blanco un momento...
Ya iba a la mitad de la lista. ¿Qué debía hacer ahora? ¿Avanzar con las canciones del musical o agregar algo más?
Sabía que quería agregar la caja musicales con el mono que aparecen tanto en el musical como en la película (que honestamente solo es un prop fancy Al cual aún busco darle un significado en mi AU), pero se sentía fuera de contexto solo dibujar un objeto, y lo demás personajes.
Incluso pensé en dibujar los distintos disfraces que usa El Fantasma durante la obra... Pero también me daba mucha pereza. Je.
Decidí entonces volver a revisar mi lista y ver qué objetos importantes había anotado, quedándome con el mono, las cartas, el candelabro, el libro,(La obra de Don Juan Triunfante), la rosa y la corona (este es un objeto solo del AU).
Para mantener una consistencia en lo que hacía, decidí continuar con los videos de TikTok para mostrar el avance completo ¡Y aprovechar que era Halloween y subir algo temático!
¡Sabía perfectamente que quería usar para el vídeo! La canción de "Masquerade" que toca la caja musical de Mono. Busqué canciones temáticas de Halloween para ir con el mood y terminé eligiendo "Come Little Children" de Hoccus Poccus.
Otro clásico.
¡Editar el audio fue una torturta!
Se me es más complicado, hasta cierto punto, porque no confío mucho en mi oído. No lo tengo bien entrenado, y no quería que el mashup se sintiera brusco y fuera de lugar. Entonces tuve que recorrer todo YouTube en busca de las versiones de caja musical de esas canciones y que sonarán lo más similar posible para que se sintiera que vienen del mismo lugar.
Ugh. Una pesadilla, pero lo logré.
Grabarlo fue otro problema.
Por mucho que me guste editar videos, la verdad es que no planeo nada. Hago las cosas conforme se van dando... ¡Cómo bocetear! Y tuve que grabar y regrabar muchas partes para que fueran con la idea que iba teniendo sobre la marcha.
No hagan eso. No sean como yo. Graben de forma inteligente, por favor.
Lamentable este video no tuvo tanto impacto como pensé que tendría... Supongo que es porque el audio es nuevo y no utilicé ninguno ya con vistas y usos en la plataforma.
Pero no quedó tan mal.
¡Y había que continuar! Porque se venía la parte más complicada: Las canciones.
Volví a hacer la lista de canciones. Para acomodarlas dentro de mi hoja y no dejar ninguna de las importantes atrás.
Tenía el musical del 25° Aniversario a todo volumen en mi celular, para ir decidiendo. Hasta que por fin tuve mis 12 canciones ganadoras.
Al parecer conté mal y pensaba solo poner 10 canciones y hacer las portadas del "tarot", pero me di cuenta muy rápido que no había dibujado a Elspeth ni a Brahna en ningúna... Así que incluído el interludio de "Magical Lasso", quitándome una portada y opté entonces en dibujar a Tyron con el final clásico que tiene Meg en la obra.
¡Perfecto!
En esta ocasión, para ahorrarme tiempo y sufrimiento, decidí hacer los 12 bocetos primero y en un formato más parecido al tamaño final para ver si todos los elementos iban a caber.
Aunque al final me ayudó con el resultado, honestamente me hubiera gustado seguir con los formatos pequeños y hacer más lluvia de ideas, para haber tenido más variedad en las ilustraciones... Pero bueno.
El tiempo se me estaba acabando.
Sólo me quedaba un día para acabarlo todo y aparte grabar.
Pero uno es disperso y otros pendientes, como ir a revisar si ya había stock de computadoras en la tienda, me quitaron por lo menos dos horas.
¡Pero lo conseguí!
El día 31 de Octubre a las 11:57 pm, había completado el SpeedRun de Drawtober.
"Pero Oveja... Era Tintubre"
Sí, bueno... Recuerden que en el primer update les dije que daría prioridad a los dibujos a lápiz para no lastimar mi brazo nuevamente.
Y el entintado lo haré con más calma ahora que empieza Noviembre.
El día de ayer, 1ro de Noviembre, me dediqué a limpiar la última página y terminar algunos detalles y a hacer el vídeo para TikTok.
Pero mi creatividad me traicionó... Estaba en blanco.
Tenía ya todo listo para dedicarle la noche para grabar y no tenía audio ni idea de por dónde empezar.
Grabé un par de cosas, aprovechando las velas de mi altar para tratar de sacar unas ideas... ¡Y entonces recordé! ¡Gracias a la oveja del pasado que guardó este video en su historial!
Quería utilizar el tráiler oficial de la nueva producción del 2021 para cuando tuviera todo entintado... ¡Pero me urgía usar un audio ya! Y quería aprovechar que tenía el intro del Subastador para presumir la carta de Adair en el prólogo.
Entonces nuevamente fue descargar el audio, escucharlo, editarlo y dejarlo en un largo de 48 segundos (porque no tenía ni idea, no las ganas, de grabar un minuto entero para TikTok)... ¡Todo desde el celular!
No sé lo recomiendo a nadie.
Después de varías horas, y muchos intentos fallidos y peleas con velas baratas del supermercado, a eso de las 4:47 de la mañana, terminé la edición del vídeo.
Me desperté temprano para darle una última revisión y subirlo finalmente a TikTok, haciendo está pequeña trampa que hacen en la plataforma: Escoger un audio con vistas, mutearlo y dejar solo el Audio original del vídeo.
*Risa malvada*
Lo subí tan rápido que no me di cuenta que no había editado la portada en TikTok y ahora será eternamente un parpadeo... Ugh.
¡En fin! Al final de cuentas, llegados a este punto, el reto puedo verlo como completado.
Son 36 Mini ilustraciones a lápiz, enteramente basados en mi "Fantasma de la Ópera" AU, y estoy muy orgullosa de haberlo intentado pese a todo.
Seguiré subiendo updates del entintado. Pero quiero utilizarlos para algo más dirigido a la presentación del AU que como reto de dibujo.

Wow, this challenge really has been an adventure!!
I really didn't expect to get this far, and I did much more than I expected in the end.
Let me tell you what happened:
After the first update of this challenge, I wanted to make a TikTok to promote it and have fun with the results! Taking the chance that an artist I follow just so happened to learn CapCut for her own content.
Why not try it out as well, I thought.
... My god.
It's been years since I edited videos like this.
My beginnings in social media were on Youtube actually, and I very much enjoyed editing videos of the anime songs I liked most with images I found on the internet, using MovieMaker.
Classic!
Using CapCut was like going back to that, a bit. In college I had learned a bit more about video editing and they taught me how to use more professional software, and some of that knowledge helped me to make more decent video transitions in TikTok.
Really, my respect goes to those who dedicate fulltime to social media content... because the amount of times I burnt myself with the candles, plus the amount of smoke I inhaled and the times I almost burnt my sketchbook were all immesurable.
Oh well!
I really didn't expect many views with it, it was mostly to show off my work and play a bit before continuing with the next part of my mini-illustrations.
This was the page I finished the fastest. I was done in a day and a half. The one problem was a little depression attak that hit me for two days, so even if I finished it quickly, I was still a bit behind.
The first page took me like four days to finish!
I continued with the characters left from the list.
Most of these I was drawing for the first time ever, and having this creative freedom really helped me not worrying about "respecting" the character designs. They are new, after all!
And after those 6 characters, I blanked for a moment...
I was done with half the list, what should I do now? Should I start with songs from the musical or add something else?
I knew I wanted to add the music box with the monkey, the one that appears in both the musical and the movie (and honestly it's just a fancy prop which Im still trying to give a deeper meaning in the AU), but it really felt out of place to just draw one object, and then only characters.
I even thought of drawing the different costumes The Phantom uses in the story... but that honestly felt like too much of a hassle. Heh.
I then decided to check my list again and see what important objects I noted, that left me with the monkey, the cards, the candelabra, the book (Don Juan Triumphant), the rose and the Crown (this last one is exclussive to the AU).
To keep consistent with what I was doing, I decided to continue with the TikTok videos to show the full advance, and also to take the chance it was halloween, and upload something on the theme!
I knew exactly what I wanted to use for this video! The version of "Masquerade" the monkey music box plays. I looked up some Halloween songs for the mood and I ended up choosing "Come Little Children" from Hocus Pocus.
Another classic.
Editing this audio was torture!
It is much more complicated to me, to som extent, because I don't trust my hearing that much. I haven't trained my ears properly, and I didn't want this mashup to feel sudden and out of place. So I had to go through all of YouTube to find music box versions of those songs that sounded as similar as possible, so it felt like they came from the same source.
Ugh. A nightmare, but I did it.
Recording was another issue.
As much as I like to edit videos, I honestly don't plan anything. I do things as they come up... like sketching! And I had to record and re-record many parts so they could go accord to the idea I was making up on the spot.
Don't do that. Don't be like me. Be smart when you record, please.
It's sad that this video didn't have as much impact as I hoped... I guess that's because it's a new audio, and I didn't use any with views and uses in the plataform.
But it didn't end up bad at all.
And I had to continue! Because this is where the hardest part starts: the songs.
I made the song list again, so they would fit on the page without leaving any important ones behind.
I had the 25th Anniversary Musical playing full blast on my phone, so I could decide. Until I finally had my 12 winner songs.
Apparently I count badly though, and I had just planned to put 10 songs and make the Tarot portraits, but then I noticed I never draw Elspeth nor Brahna in any of them... So, I included the Magical Lasso interlude, took out a portrait and preferred to draw Tyron on the classical ending Meg gets in the play.
Perfect!
This time, to save time and suffering, I decided to make the 12 sketches first and in a closer format to the final size, to see how all elements fit.
Even if it helped me in the end, I honestly would had liked it better to just keep with the tiny format and brainstorm a bit more, so I could had have more variety in my illustrations... but oh, well.
I was running out of time.
I only had one day left to finish it all and record.
But I was very unfocused and other tasks, like checking on my new computer, took away at least two hours from me.
But I did it!
On Octuber 31st at 11:57 pm, I had finished my Drawtober Speedrun.
"But Sheepy... it was INKtober."
Yeah, well... remember that in my first update I said I'd give priority to the pencil drawings so I wouldn't injure my arm again.
And I'll start the inking process now in the first days of November.
The other day, November 1st, I focused on cleaning up the last page and finishing some details, besides making the TikTok video.
But creativity betrayed me... I blanked.
I had everything ready to record all night and I didn't even have my audio, nor any idea of where to start.
I recorder a few things, using the candles on my altar to get some ideas... and then, I remembered! Thanks to Past Sheepy who left this video on her internet history!
I wanted to use the official trailer of the new 2021 production when everything was inked... But I really needed to use an aurio right now! And I wanted to take the chance to show off Adair's auctioneer card in the prologue!
So again, I had to download the audio, listen to it, edit it and leave it at around 48 seconds length (because I didn't had an idea, nor the motivation, to make one entire minute for TikTok)... And everything from my phone!!
I don't recommend this to anyone.
After many hours, many failures and many fights with cheap supermarket candles, I finished the editing of the video at around 4:47 am.
I woke up early to give one last check and finally upload it to TikTok, doing a little trick that people use in this plataform: Find an audio with views, mute it and just leave the original audio of my video.

I uploaded it so quickly I didn't even realize I didn't edit the TikTok thumbnail, and now it will be a blink forever... Ugh.
But alas! In the end, at this point I could count this challenge as completed and accomplished!
These are 36 mini-illustrations made with pen, entirely based on my "Phantom of the Opera" AU, and I am very proud of having tried it despite everything.
I'll keep uploading inking updates, but I want to use them more as a presentation for the AU, rather than some drawing challenge.
