For me, this race was the last long session before the Ironman World Championship.

My mindset was crystal clear:

❌ Don’t rush

❌ Don’t push

❌ Definitely don’t think about a PB

✅ Just finish comfortably, with a goal under 4 hours.

Race day conditions were perfect. The morning was cool and ideal for running; by mid-race the sun came out, but it wasn’t too hot.

One unique moment happened around 11K — I suddenly felt stomach pain, and my heart rate spiked to 180 (which you can see clearly on the Polar data 📈). Luckily, the pain disappeared after about 1K and my heart rate returned to normal. From then on, I kept a relaxed mindset and enjoyed the remaining 30K smoothly.

Along the way I met Andy Law, Ah Chun, Stanley Law, Ben Lui, and Ryan — all focused and giving their best toward their own goals. At the finish line, taking a big group photo with the Brisbane Hong Kong Run Club runners made the day even more special 👍

Sydney Marathon — to me, it was a marathon completed with a smile.

In 10 days, all my focus shifts to the Ironman World Championship.

You can go fast alone, but you can go far together. Today, running this marathon with teammates, supporting and motivating each other, reminded me that this is the true power of training.
