Bio: Hi, I’m Garry. I’ve spent years documenting my bicycle tours and life under canvas, after my wife died of cancer aged only 42. Unfortunately, in 2018, I contracted severe sepsis shock and was placed in an induced coma. After spending a month in the ICU department of my local hospital, I was eventually allowed home.

Since contracting sepsis, I have spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital with various ailments. And in May 2023, I was diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis and Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy (DCM), which causes narrowing of the cervical spinal canal, leading to chronic spinal cord compression and resultant neurologic disability.

As a result of this diagnosis, I am unable to work as I used to. My rides also look a little different now. I am no longer able to cycle the hundreds of miles day after day as I once did, but I refuse to stop moving.

I’m dedicated to staying on two wheels for as long as possible, sharing my journey and raising awareness for cervical myelopathy and sepsis along the way.
